Ian Nottingham is a fascinating character in the comic Witchblade. He was adopted by a British family and eventually was trained and became an agent for MI5. He was trained by a Great sensui in Japan and then working undercover infiltrated the great Takata family syndicate. Takata's daughter fell madly in love with Ian and they became lovers. Ian left the Takata family to be servant of the villainous sexy Kenneth Irons and nemesis/love interest to NYPD homicide detective Sara Pezzini. Kenneth Irons relationship was sadistic and he would torture Ian if he disobeyed him. Kenneth Irons used Ian in his biological experiments making Ian adaptable to wield the awesome weapon the Witchblade. Ian did wield the Witchblade but its blood lust and tremendous power was too much for Ian and he had to give it back to Sara. Ian also has wielded Darkness and Excaliber for short periods but all of them belonged to others and he didn't keep them.Excaliber is the most interesting. Its the twin of the Witchblade with its incredible power has made Ian question all aspects of his life. He has dabbled at being hero and being a lover. He is still searching for who he really is???
